Michael L. Jones
Mike has more than three years of experience as a geologist exploring for oil
and gas in South Texas. While at Scout Petroleum, Mike has generated a
number of prospects in the Frio-Vicksburg trend of San Patricio and
Nueces Counties. Prior to working with Scout, Mike worked on the Austin
Chalk trend as a geological intern for EOG Resources in the summer of 2001
and in the summer of 2002 he worked on generating prospects in the the
Anadarko Basin for Mewbourne Oil Company in Amarillo, TX.
Mike earned a B.S. in Geology from Texas A&M University in 2001 and a
Master of Science degree in Geology from Texas Tech University in 2003.
While at Texas Tech, Mike focused his research efforts on geothermal heat
flow and its relationship to petroleum systems in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
Mike is a member of AAPG, SEG, SPWLA, CCGS, GSH, HGS and SIPES-Houston.
Currently, he is the 2006-2007 Chair of the HGS North American Explorationist Committee and the
2006 chair of the SIPES-Houston Public Relations Committee.
Mike was also the recipient of the 2005 HGS Rising Star Award.
